The Supervisor, Bill Review Services is responsible for the daily oversight of the Medical Bill Review team, which processes hospital, surgery, and complex physician bills for both workers' compensation and non-workers' compensation claims. This role ensures operational efficiency, performance compliance, and timely resolution of escalated issues. The supervisor provides day-to-day guidance, ensures service levels are met, and supports team development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily operations of the Medical Bill Review group, with a focus on high-volume and complex claims related to workers’ compensation and non-workers’ compensation.
  • Ensure all activities meet client expectations, performance standards, and quality benchmarks.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews to maintain compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.
  • Facilitate resolution of moderately complex issues and escalations, coordinating across departments as necessary.
  • Oversee staffing levels, monitor workloads, and allocate assignments to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are achieved.
  • Provide coaching, support, and performance feedback to team members; conduct annual performance evaluations.
  • Partner with leadership to identify training needs and process improvement opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including direct interface with clients to resolve ongoing issues and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies, billing procedures, and fee schedule guidelines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare or business-related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in medical bill review, with direct experience in a workers’ compensation setting required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of medical billing practices, workers’ compensation fee schedules, and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage team performance, resolve operational issues, and drive efficiency.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in bill review platforms and Microsoft Office applications.
